    A confirmed case of measles has been reported in Illinois. Healthcare providers and facilities should be alert for possible measles cases. Measles should be considered in any patient with a maculopapular rash that starts on the head/hairline and spreads down the body, fever, conjunctivitis, cough, cold symptoms, and malaise.

    Dr. Scott A. Cooper, MD is on staff at NorthShore University HealthSystem and is a clinical medicine instructor at the University of Chicago. He completed his undergraduate studies at Washington University in St. Louis, MO and earned his medical degree from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood, IL. He completed his residency at St. Joseph's Hospital in Chicago. He completed his fellowship in critical care at Cook County Hospital.

    Dr. Cooper practices emergency medicine. He is involved in residency training for the emergency medicine residents at the University of Chicago and Cook County Hospital (Stroger) as well as the internal medicine residents at Evanston Hospital.

    Dr. Cooper has an interest in teaching. With his expertise in medical malpractice, he gives lectures on triggers of medical malpractice. He is interested in internet/interactive learning and developed a CD to teach abdonimal ultrasound. He has also developed a multimedia method for teaching basic statistics without math and applying this to medical literature.

    Professional Involvement:

    Dr. Cooper has been a member of ISMS for over 20 years, having served as Vice-President (2011-2012) and currently serving on the ISMS Executive Committee and the Committee on Finance & Medical Benevolence, which he has also chaired. He holds memberships with the American College of Emergency Physicians and the Illinois College of Emergency Physicians.

    Dr. Cooper belongs to the Lake County Medical Society and served as president in 2004. He currently sits on the LCMS Executive Committee.

    The ISMS House of Delegates meeting is scheduled for April 15-17, 2016 and will be held this year in Springfield, IL. The ISMS HOD meeting is the largest event of the year and brings physician leaders together from all over the State of IL. This yearly meeting provides the opportunity for county medical society leaders to engage with leaders from -Illinois State Medical Society and bring resolutions to the floor from county physicians.

    This year the MCMS Members who will be attending the House of Delegates Meeting are as follows: Dr. Steven Campau, MD; Dr. Vikram Patel, MD; and Dr. David Stumpf, MD

    Drs. Campau, Patel, and Stumpf will represent all of the members of the McHenry County Medical Society and will bring your voice to the House of Delegates meeting.

    We thank them for their time and service to our organized medicine group.
