
Dr. Scott A. Cooper, MD is on staff at NorthShore University HealthSystem and is a clinical medicine instructor at the University of Chicago. He completed his undergraduate studies at Washington University in St. Louis, MO and earned his medical degree from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood, IL. He completed his residency at St. Joseph's Hospital in Chicago. He completed his fellowship in critical care at Cook County Hospital.
Dr. Cooper practices emergency medicine. He is involved in residency training for the emergency medicine residents at the University of Chicago and Cook County Hospital (Stroger) as well as the internal medicine residents at Evanston Hospital.
Dr. Cooper has an interest in teaching. With his expertise in medical malpractice, he gives lectures on triggers of medical malpractice. He is interested in internet/interactive learning and developed a CD to teach abdonimal ultrasound. He has also developed a multimedia method for teaching basic statistics without math and applying this to medical literature.
Professional Involvement:
Dr. Cooper has been a member of ISMS for over 20 years, having served as Vice-President (2011-2012) and currently serving on the ISMS Executive Committee and the Committee on Finance & Medical Benevolence, which he has also chaired. He holds memberships with the American College of Emergency Physicians and the Illinois College of Emergency Physicians.
Dr. Cooper belongs to the Lake County Medical Society and served as president in 2004. He currently sits on the LCMS Executive Committee.
