COVID-19 News from IMPACT

McHenry County Medical Society physicians are urged to follow and heed information coming out of the Illinois Medical Professionals Action Collaborative Team (IMPACT) whose mission it is to identify and meet the needs of Illinois’ healthcare workers and communities.

In a recent statement on November 9, 2020, IMPACT urgently addressed the concern that many healthcare workers as well as citizens are experiencing COVID-19 fatigue and are letting their guard down right at a time when everyone needs to be more vigilant than ever. COVID-19 Information from ISMS


THREE Sources of Financial Relief Are Available for Physicians Affected by COVID-19

Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) – Apply by October 31

·     Physicians who participate in Medicaid can apply for financial assistance by submitting an online application though theHFS CARES Funding Portal.

·     IMPORTANT TO NOTE: Be sure to review the portal for eligibility criteria.

Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) – No Application Deadline Announced

·     Healthcare professionals can be reimbursed with federal funds for testing uninsured patients for COVID-19 and treating uninsured patients with a COVID-19 diagnosis for services provided on or after Feb. 4, 2020.

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) – Apply by November 6

·     Under the New Phase 3 Provider Relief Funding – General Distribution allocation, health professionals who have already received CARES Act Provider Relief Fund payments can apply for additional funding.

·     To apply, submit your TIN and financial information to the CARES Provider Relief Fund Application and Attestation Portal.

COVID-19 Information Presented by Team of Epidemiologists

COVID-19 Presentation:  Presented by Nicholas Soulakis, PhD, assistant professor of Preventive Medicine in the Divisions of Health and Biomedical Informatics and Epidemiology at Northwestern University. He is currently on leave of absence from the medical school to work as an epidemiologist in the Illinois Department of Public Health to help them understand the number of Illinois residents infected with COVID-19 and predict how long the outbreak will last. He and his team of epidemiologists discussed the following: workforce development, epidemiological trends, and outbreak cluster detection.

MCDH COVID-19 Update

On Wednesday, May 27,  Dr. Laura Buthod, Medical Advisor with the McHenry County Department of Health gave an informative presentation to a group of MCMS physicians and guests on COVID-19 in McHenry County. Food Insecurity Resource Packet

During the pandemic many people are finding it difficult to provide enough food for their families due to job loss. Dr. Buthod has put together a resource for physicians to use with patients to help address food insecurity and ways that McHenry County area agencies are helping address the need.
